Its been a pleasure to have a growing number of women join us each season. For them, the joys and growth golf can bring a player are now comfortably accessible.

In the past, many of the biases women have experienced in our society have been mirrored on the golf course. As in society, many of those biases are thankfully disappearing from golf. Women are increasingly finding "Men Only" privileges going the way of wooden golf clubs. Our pro shops are carrying a growing variety of equipment and apparel for women. Golf instruction is also better adapting to women players. Heartland is pleased to have opened new horizons for many women players.

However, there are hurdles remaining that are yet to be crossed.
|
| |
| |
- Many women are the unfortunate victims of the impression that they are playing "too slowly". This both predisposes them to rush their shots and to not enjoy a leisurely (but responsible) pace to which everyone is entitled.
- Secondly, with the musculature of men and women being different, too many women mistakenly conclude that they cannot achieve substantial distance. This conclusion is only true when women are not coached on:
- how to find their strength and power,
- how to transmit the power they have to the ball.

We think it is important for women to feel at ease with joining a group of men players without any uneasiness. If you have ever had this concern, attending school in a coed environment is an important step to putting such feelings behind you. Women find themselves welcomed in class and often find themselves faster learners than their male counterparts. And its great fun having men and women together in class.
